Our approach

Our distinctive approach to business is culminated with over 45 years of amassed knowledge and experience, which combines a commitment to innovation and technological progress with a genuine and demonstrable concern for the environment.

We continue to research and evaluate new, more efficient, and environmentally focussed waste management techniques including waste collection, waste treatment and recycling, resource recovery and diversion from landfill as well as our support services

Corporate Management System

Since 2014, we have been committed to developing, implementing, and operating an Integrated Corporate Management System.

The Corporate Management System fully satisfies the requirements of BS ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), BS ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management)

Our management system has been fully integrated across all the business and audited by the Regulatory Affairs Team. They provide support and guidance, identify new areas of opportunity and best practice.

Our senior management team conduct quarterly reviews across all areas.  These reviews continue to create a specific collective focus on the analysis of data across the business, including customer feedback.

These reviews continue to create an opportunity to reflect on successes and also to make further improvements to the business and make progress towards our goals.

We continue to prove our commitment to delivering our services responsibly and sustainably.

Protecting the local and global environment

 

At the heart of our business is the important environmental service we provide in dealing with the waste generated by society.

 

Our commitment

We are committed to protecting the local and global environment through responsible and effective management, minimising any negative impact and maximising opportunities to enhance the local environment in which we operate.

We comply with all relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices to ensure we minimise our impact on the environment and conserve natural resources.

Our approach

Our Corporate Management System is accredited to the international standards of BS ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management)

The Compass Environmental Policy outlines our commitment to consider the environmental impact of our operational activities and ensure we manage them effectively.

We enthusiastically support the waste hierarchy and focus our efforts on the reuse and recovery of recyclable materials and the recovery of energy from waste through anaerobic digestion, landfill gas initiatives and Energy from Waste incineration.

 

Our performance

Every year at Compass we measure, monitor and manage, setting annual targets and using the indicators to help understand and mitigate the environmental impact of our operations. By doing so, we can develop future strategies and demonstrate our performance and progress to all stakeholders.

 

Compliance

One of our key commitments is to ensure that we fully comply with all relevant legislation, managed by the Environment Agency, which monitors our ongoing compliance.
